Zombie Derby: Blocky Roads
Smashing Through Chaos: My Experience with Zombie Derby: Blocky Roads
At first glance, Zombie Derby: Blocky Roads looks like just another driving game. You’ve got a vehicle, a road ahead, and… well, a lot of zombies. But after actually playing it for a while, it’s clear there’s more going on here than just hitting the gas and plowing forward.
You’re not just racing—you’re trying to survive. And honestly, that balance between speed, fuel, and not flipping your car over? It gets stressful faster than I expected.
How to Play
| Action | Control |
|---|---|
| Accelerate | W / ↑ |
| Balance vehicle | A / D or ← / → |
| Shoot | Space |
| Nitro boost | Shift |
Driving Through Zombie Hordes
The goal sounds simple: go as far as possible and reach the end of each level. But the road is packed with zombies, and they’re not just there for show—they slow you down, sometimes a lot.
At one point, I thought I could just avoid them… turns out, that’s not really an option. Crashing through them is usually the fastest way forward, even if it feels a bit reckless.
Fuel Management Is a Real Problem
This is where the game surprised me. You can’t just hold down the accelerator and hope for the best.
I ran out of fuel mid-run more times than I’d like to admit. The vehicle was still fine, but that didn’t matter—the run was over. After that, I started paying way more attention to:
- When to use nitro
- When to slow down
- How to avoid wasting momentum
It adds a layer of strategy that sneaks up on you.

Upgrades Actually Matter
After each run, you earn money. At first, I didn’t think much of it—but upgrades make a noticeable difference.
Improving things like:
- Engine power
- Fuel capacity
- Armor
…can turn a frustrating run into something much more manageable. It’s one of those systems where you feel the progress, even if it takes a few retries to get there.
Physics Can Work Against You
This might be the most frustrating part. The terrain isn’t flat, and your vehicle reacts to every bump, slope, and jump.
There were moments where I almost reached the finish line… and then flipped over because I landed at a weird angle. It’s a bit annoying, yeah—but also kind of what makes the game engaging.
You start learning, slowly:
- When to lean forward or backward
- How to land safely
- When to ease off the gas
Final Thoughts
Zombie Derby: Blocky Roads isn’t the kind of game you finish in one go. You’ll replay levels, mess up, run out of fuel, flip your car… and then try again anyway.
There’s something oddly satisfying about going just a little further each time. Not perfect, not smooth—but enough to make you think, “okay, one more run.”
